
New Zealand is introducing new visa pathways and reforms to the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) in 2025. These changes are intended to make it easier for employers to hire foreign workers and to address labor shortages.
Seasonal worker visas
3-year multi-entry visa: For experienced workers
7-month single-entry visa: For lesser-skilled workers
AEWV reforms
Reduced work experience requirement: From three years to two years
Removal of median wage threshold: From March 2025, the median wage threshold will be removed for AEWV roles
Redesigned Job Check process: To streamline Job Checks for low-risk employers and decrease processing times
Visitor visa reforms
Remote work: Visitors can work remotely for overseas employers or clients
Proof of funds: Visitors must have at least NZD $1,000 per month, or NZD $400 per month if they have paid for their accommodation.
