‘Looks like his old self’ – O’Sullivan hits fine double en route to session-ending century
Higgins 8-11 Williams
The Wizard has the chance for a trademark counter, but misses a routine blue off the spot.
His opponent pounces by clearing to the blue from the final red to pull further clear.

O’Sullivan 8-4 Si
The Chinese plays a couple of nice pots to clear to the pink.
We are exactly as we were heading into the mid-session interval.
O’Sullivan 8-3 Si (46-52)
Not quite…
He overcuts the yellow to the top-left corner.
Although, there is no guarantee for Si to gain position on the green from here.
O’Sullivan 8-3 Si (27-52)
Si breaks down on 52 after missing a black to the left centre.
Can O’Sullivan counter and potentially steal?
Higgins 8-10 Williams
The Welshman knocks in a wonderful penultimate long red, which paves the way for him to move two frames clear for the first time in this match.
He needs three more to reach his eighth Crucible semi-final.
O’Sullivan 8-3 Si (0-30)
Si plays a positive attacking shot by going straight into the pack from potting a red near the left corner.
This is a good chance for him.
O’Sullivan 8-3 Si
The Rocket takes full advantage of his good fortune with a run of 75 to restore that five-frame buffer.
O’Sullivan 7-3 Si (35-0)
An attempted cannon does not go as intended for O’Sullivan, who subsequently gives the table a tidy wrap with his knuckles.
However, it does not affect his flow as he cuts in a thin red to keep the break going.
O’Sullivan 7-3 Si (27-0)
Si plays a good safety to leave the cue-ball near the baulk cushion.
However, O’Sullivan inadvertently flicks a red off the bottom cushion and into the right corner from his escape.
It has presented him with a decent opportunity to clinch the frame from this visit.
CENTURY! O’Sullivan 7-3 Si
The Chinese takes full advantage this time with a magnificent clearance of 101.
That will settle him down.
O’Sullivan 7-2 Si (34-0)
The Rocket crunches in a long red to generate the first opportunity of frame 10.
However, he breaks down on 34 after missing a routine red to the left corner.
What can Si make of this unexpected chance?
Higgins 8-9 Williams
A frame of two halves across the arena.
Higgins opens with 40 before missing a tricky red to the left centre.
Williams then counters with 73 to edge his nose back in front.
Three of a kind?
Si has a chance to follow in Ding Junhui and Marco Fu’s footsteps and become the third multiple Crucible semi-finalist from Asia.
However, the 22-year-old must improve and start taking his opportunities if he is to have any chance of doing that.
O’Sullivan 7-2 Si
A run of 43 is more than enough for O’Sullivan to take the first frame of the morning session.
He is now five frames to the good.
O’Sullivan 6-2 Si (29-8)
Although, misses like that won’t help his cause!
Si misses a straightforward pink to the right corner, pulling it to the near jaw.
O’Sullivan 6-2 Si (29-0)
But he can’t take it…
O’Sullivan drifts slightly out of position and is left bridging over a red near the right cushion.
He subsequently misses the black, and this is where Si needs to step in if he is to come back in this contest.
O’Sullivan 6-2 Si (20-0)
The Rocket with his first chance of the second session.
He needs to develop some reds around the pink spot, but this is a decent opportunity.
