The American skiing superstar, 41, sustained injuries in the women downhill World Cup skiing race in the ski resort of Crans-Montana, Switzerland, where she was among three skiers who crashed in the competition. Vonn was airlifted to the hospital to be checked, but in no time, she went to social media to create a defiant and hopeful mood.
It is quite a harsh outcome, one week prior to the Olympics, she posted on instagram. And yet, there is one thing I know how to do, which is to come back.
Vonn clarified that she has not lost her Olympic ambition, she stated: “My Olympic dream is not yet dead. She also sent out a thank you note to the fans and said that she was grateful to the medical staff that treated her, as she was all right.
Although more tests are yet to be performed, Vonn assured everyone that she would follow up on it and closed off her message in a strong tone: It is not over until it is over.
Her post gained sufficient positive responses, one of which was provided by her teammate Mikaela Shiffrin who wrote: “You can do it like no one.
In the same breath, vonn also got time to congratulate Marte Monsen of Norway who was stretchered off, after crashing in the race towards the end and sustained a bruised face that was visible.
As the Milano cortina 2026 is right around the corner Vonn is now taking her medical time off squarely and making it clear that it is never safe to count her out.
