Wilson was always behind against Williams, the world number 51 who had never previously beaten his opponent on the professional tour.
Having lost the first two frames, Wilson warmed up and fired breaks of 73 and 108 in two of the next three frames, but they were not enough to prevent Williams getting over the line.

Mark Selby had no such problems advancing to the last 32 as he scored two centuries in reeling off four frames in a row to defeat Liam Highfield 4-1.
And Shaun Murphy went one better, reeling off consecutive breaks of 125, 135 and 133 in his 4-0 whitewash of Zak Surety, who only managed a total of eight points over the four frames played.
Mark Williams was another whitewash winner over Iran’s Amir Sarkhosh, while other winners included Barry Hawkins, Ding Junhui and Si Jiahui.
