Three-time Grand Slam winner and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner of Italy will face reigning Olympic tennis champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the men’s singles semi-finals of the French Open 2025 on Tuesday.

Sinner, 23, last played Djokovic, 38, in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai in October last year. The Italian defeated Djokovic 7(6)-6(4), 6-3 on that occasion and is unbeaten in his last three matches against the Serb.

Seeded sixth at the 2025 French Open, Djokovic has played against Sinner eight times and it is honours even with both players notching up four wins against the other, making it 4-4 in the head-to-head records.
The only previous match between Sinner and Djokovic on clay was won by the Serb at the ATP Masters 1000 Monte-Carlo in 2021. It was the first-ever match between the two.
Djokovic, also a bronze medallist at Beijing 2008 Olympics, boasts the most men’s Grand Slam titles (24) in history with three of those coming in the French Open in 2016, 2021 and 2023.
He beat third seed Alexander Zverev of Germany in the quarter-finals and has dropped just one game – in the previous round – during his journey to semis.
Top seed Jannik Sinner, on the other hand, beat Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals and is yet to lose a game in this edition of the Roland-Garros.
Sinner qualified for the semi-finals of the French Open last year as well. However, he lost the match 2-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 against Olympic silver medallist Carlos Alcaraz, who went on to win the title.
