The Laureus Worlds Sports Awards have had their nominees revealed and amongst them are two cyclists, who can realistically aim to win some of the most prestigious awards in all of sports. Tadej Pogacar and Tom Pidcock represent the sport after brilliant years in their respective fields.

Tadej Pogacar has been officially nominated as a potential winner of the Sportsman of the Year Award. He joins Tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, Pole Vaulter Modo Duplantis, Swimmer Léon Marchand and Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen.
The Slovenian had arguably one of the very best seasons in cycling history: Winning Strade Bianche, Volta a Catalunya (GC + 4 stages), Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Giro d’Italia (GC + 6 stages), Tour de France (GC + 6 stages), GP du Montréal, Road Race World Championships, Giro dell’Emilia and Il Lombardia. Over 20 wins and a season that in modern history can’t be compared to a single rider. His performances were added to his very popular stance and very attractive style of racing that has truly turned him into a superstar.
But he won’t be the only rider present at these awards, as Tom Pidcock is also on the list of Action Sports People. The Briton won the Mountain Bike Olympic title in Paris and found his way onto the list together with Skateboarder Yuto Horigome, Snowboarder Chloe Kim, Surfer Caroline Marks, Climber Aleksandra Miroslaw and Australian Skateboarder Arisa Trew. The awards ceremony will take place in Madrid on the 21st April.
